Kalesi

[edit]

the correct form of the Turkish name must be Alanya Kalesi, with the accusative suffix "si". someone better move the article 81.213.122.4 00:01, 27 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have Alanya Kalesi redirecting to Alanya Kale. As I understand it, the difference in English is like "Alanya Castle" vs. "The Alanya Castle". I'd like to see what other places have done with the Turkish endings, and whether or not they're included before making this move. Regardless, Alanya Kale and Alanya Kalesi will direct to the same article.--Patrick 15:08, 29 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
you are wrong dude, Alanya Kale doesnt make any sense in Turkish language. If you are going to name the article in Turkish instead of Alanya Castle, you better make it like, "Hadrian Kapısı, Hıdırlık Kulesi, or etc...." This is the correct form if you are going to use it with a Private place. You see, we have an accusative in Turkish language that if you are going to say like "the door of mehmet", we say "Mehmetin Kapısı", Mehmet Kapı is like "Mehmet and the door." so "Alanya Kale" is meaningless like "Alanya and the castle" or not even that. The correct form would be "Topkapı" which is "The Canon Gate" but as u see, there is not belonging in the word "Canon Gate". If it was the "Gate of the Canon" then it would be, "Topun Kapısı" so it is not like English. Such as, in english you can't say "Britain Flag", you must either say "British flag" or " Flag of Britain". 85.96.215.45 03:01, 8 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
